One good option to get more for your money is to look into getting a refurbished gun which will give you the same marker for up to half the price. Refurbished guns are guns that have been returned directly to the manufacturer because they were defected, or just returned in a Big box store. The company then takes the guns and repairs them back to new or better then new performance. Each gun that is refurbished is tested to ensure it's the same quality as a new gun and even carries the same warranty. The biggest difference between a new gun and a refurbished gun is that refurbished guns come in white or brown boxes instead of fancy packaging. All the parts that came with the original gun are also still included with a refurbished gun. Sometimes there will be minor scratches or scuffs on refurbished guns but nothing that is going to damage performance of the gun. Refurbished guns are going to be a better deal then a used gun because they are going to be set up by the factory from the people that know them the best to work like new. Most major companies provide refurbished models including Spyder, WGP, Brass Eagle, and JT.

Piranha GSX Refurbished

This Gun has a very interesting history. It was made to be an exclusive marker for a big-box-store. But the deal fell through before any were sold. That was when PMI contacted us. We bought up the whole lot, but since the gun was to be put in a Store-Specific packaging for the big-box-store, they just came to us in cardboard boxes. And with a much lower price tag. This is why you won't find this marker in the PMI web-site. It was never officially released, and the numbers are limited. Now for the Gun itself. The GSX was designed with the sole purpose of combining the two most important features of paintball. The First aim of this gun is the Accuracy. So often lost in today's "the fastest gun wins" mentality, accuracy is more important than many people realize. You are going to find yourself in situations in paintball games when you see your opponent's foot, pack, or elbow sticking out. You've only got one maybe two shots to hit that very small target before they realize that they are exposed, and adjust to cover. If your gun is just made to shoot fast, then even if you can shoot 20 ball per second you're going to miss. However, the GSX has the accuracy under controll. the stock barrel is a two piece design, the most accurate barrel design, and comes with two fronts. The first is a 12" front great to give good accuracy in the tightest of locations, like indoor, or small fields. The other barrel tip is a 14" perfect for the open woods, or other long range play. In addition to the 2 barrels, the Venturi style bolt and Piranha valve and internals makes this gun one of the most accurate out-of-the-box guns in it's price range. Now the other important feature to have in paintball is the speed. Because you don't always have the chance to sight in your shot, it is extremely important to be able to lay down alot of paint in a hurry. The GSX has this aspect covered as well. The electronic trigger frame included with this gun is as easy to use as a toaster. You simply press the button labeled "Power" to turn it on. If you'd like to change between the FIVE different modes, all you have to do is press the buttons either labeled "Burst" or "Auto". The Burst button will toggle between the 3, 6, and 9 round burst. The Auto button Toggles between Semi and Full-Auto.

Invert Mini

The Invert Mini, made by a subdivision of Empire, is one of the smallest and lightest markers on the market today. The Mini weighs just under 2 pounds when it is fully assembled with the barrel, regulator, and battery included! You might see other markers advertised as weighing less than the Mini, but most companies weigh their markers stripped down to the least amount of parts they can, while still considering it a marker. They are able to claim extremely light weights, but when you are actually on the field playing the marker can weigh as much as a pound more than what they advertise! The Mini is under 2 pounds when it is ready to go onto the field.
Another great feature of the Invert Mini is that there are no hoses at all in the entire marker. The air goes directly from the ASA to the firing chamber through the grip frame, which has a built in regulator to control the airflow. This means that you will never have to worry about your hoses leaking or breaking. There are also no wires to rip or pinch while you assemble and disassemble the marker. The battery mounts in the front grip, instead of the grip frame like most markers. The lack of hoses and wires makes maintenance and repairs easier because you can always immediately eliminate hoses or wires from the potential causes for any problems you encounter.
The Mini comes standard with break beam eyes, which will prevent you from chopping paintballs if your loader can not keep up with the gun. It features multiple different firing modes, including Semi-Auto, NXL, PSP Ramping, NPPL, and Millennium modes. Angel Series 1
The Angel 1s main pneumatic advancements have been made possible by the deletion of the rechargeable battery, allowing the Angel development team to completely re-zone the Angels classic 3-bore design in to a unique hybrid chamber operating system.

The front third of the 2 lower bores have been merged in to 1 chamber, to increase the volume of gas held in the exhaust valve chamber by 65%, which significantly lowers the pressure of gas used to propel the paintball, whilst substantially improving shot to shot consistency and accuracy.

The LPR has been fully re-designed and relocated from the front to the back of the main body. The LPR chamber is 80% larger and now sits directly beneath the Angel 1s all new custom made 3volt solenoid, to allow direct air injection of the low pressure gas into the solenoid itself.

The custom solenoid then feeds this low pressure gas directly into the Angel 1s super smooth ram, deleting the use of gas galleries and avoiding the use of small bore hoses, that restrict the flow of gas between the LPR, Solenoid and Ram.

These 3 core advancements in layout and design deliver, sub 200 psi shot pressure, faster recharge rates and an ultra consistent cycle pressure of 55psi.

The Angel 1s electronic control system has been re-designed to maximize its performance advantages, whilst offering the most user friendly navigation system available on any paintball marker to date. Advanced Eye logic
The Angel 1 incorporates advanced eye logic that is not only able to distinguish between a paintball and a blockage, but also has the ability to detect if the blockage or malfunction has been cleared and reactivate the eyes if necessary.

Modular Eye Construction
The Lazer-eye ribbons have been separated out into two modular components. The emitter side of the break beam system is surface mounted on a custom ribbon track, while the receiver is surface mounted on another separate custom ribbon track. Should one of these components fail it can be replaced individually, reducing maintenance costs.

Pneumatics/Internals

Internally the Angel 1 has undergone a total overhaul.
The new 'Direct-fed' LPR, Solenoid and Ram assembly will redefine players expectations of high performance markers. This re-designed pneumatic engine has allowed the Angel 1 to benefit from significantly bigger - high and low pressure chambers which result in even better consistency and accuracy.
The Low pressure chamber is 80% bigger than in the G7. The High pressure chamber is 65% bigger than in the G7.
The LPR itself, has increased porting and greatly improved flow, feeding the redesigned low-pressure chamber which now sits DIRECTLY beneath the 6th generation, custom solenoid - giving even faster recharge rates. This means that the forces working on the super smooth and almost friction-free ram are reduced even more, further improving the Angels legendary gas efficiency.

Custom Built Solenoid

The Angel 1 incorporates the 6th generation of custom built Angel solenoids. Since 2001 WDP have been working with the worlds leading Solenoid manufacturers to ensure that the Angel 1 combines cutting edge performance with unsurpassed reliability. The solenoid used in the Angel 1 is by far the smallest and fastest cycling solenoid used to date and incorporates additional exhaust porting to allow gas to escape quickly, ensuring the fastest possible cycling speeds.

Low Pressure Regulator (LPR)

The LPR has been fully re-designed and relocated from the front to the back of the main body. The LPR chamber is 80% larger and now sits directly beneath the Angel 1s all new custom made 3volt solenoid, to allow direct air injection of the low pressure gas into the solenoid itself.

Internal Volume Chamber

The Angel 1 internals have been completely re designed. The front third of the 2 lower bores have been merged in to 1 chamber, to increase the volume of gas held in the exhaust valve chamber by 65%, which significantly lowers the pressure of gas used to propel the paintball, this increase facilitates unsurpassed consistency from shot to shot as the % of gas drawn from the shot chamber on each activation is reduced. The Angel 1 literally stores 3-4 shots of pre-regulated air within the shot chamber meaning fluctuations in tank output pressure are not transmitted into the marker. This much improved consistency results in even better accuracy during high rates of fire.

In-line regulator

The Angel series 1 utilizes a high flow, in-line regulator that is housed within an ergonomically sculpted 3D fore grip. The in-line reg uses aluminum pistons to increase performance and to also save weight. The internal cartridge assembly can be easily removed from the fore grip housing for maintenance or quick replacement if required.

Rubber Detents

The Angel 1 utilizes 2 durable rubber finger detents to prevent double feeds and to help prevent force fed loaders pushing more than one ball at a time into the breach area.

New Angel Bolt Introducing Ball Kiss Technology

The Angel 1s bolt has been fully redesigned and is now moulded from high grade polymer acetyl, rather than machined. This improves consistency and allows for an increase in the size of the porting and a reduction in wall thickness along the entire length of the bolt. The bolt insert has been moulded in glass re-enforced nylon rather than aluminum to further reduce weight and also improve on consistency. This bolt insert creates anti-turbulence in the gas blast to ensure the most efficient use of the least gas possible.
The re-engineered materials used in the Angel 1s bolt make it a full 50% lighter than those used in previous Angels.
The bolt also incorporates a small angled face located directly under the feed tube to aid in the reduction of ball breaks associated with clipping balls in the feed stack. This is more common with smaller sized paintballs or low quality miss shaped paintballs. The chamfered lip of the bolt gently pushes the second ball up and out of harms way so that the bolt can travel freely without the risks of clipping any additional ball that may be waiting in the feed stack.

Swing-out Rotobreach

One of the Angels instantly recognizable features is its unique Rotorbreech system. The Rotorbreech provides quick and easy access to the bolt and breech area. The Angels fully enclosed operating system keeps unwanted dirt or debris out of the firing mechanism, helping to reduce wear and tear caused by the unwanted presence of foreign bodies/debris within the mechanism, a common cause of inconsistency.

However delicate your marker may be on paint, periodically you will get 1 bad/cold/wet/swollen ball enter your marker to cause you problems. Being able to remove the bolt and gain access to the breech area for cleaning while on the field is vital, no matter what.

Triple Finger Trigger Guard

While the rest of the Angel 1 has been reduced in size, the spacious trigger guard has been retained. Players can easily fit 3 fingers into the guard if necessary, in order to achieve insane rates of fire.

QR Feed

The low rise feed on the Angel 1 incorporates an adjustable QR (quick release) clamping lever lock mechanism allowing the user to fine tune the locking mechanism to ensure a snug fit between the gun and the loader, it also ensures that the loader can be swiftly and easily removed if required no matter what brand of loader is being used.

Thinner grip frame

The standard 45 frame used on the Angel 1 has been slimmed down from 0.86 (21.95mm), to a far lighter and thinner 0.70 (17.80mm) to give the player increased comfort and control. The frame also has an integrated dove tail mounting rail as well as industry standard 10/32unf mounting holes for ultimate flexibility.

ASA

The Angel 1 comes complete with a centrally proted and fully adjustable dove-tail mounted air system adaptor (ASA). Like all things on the Angel 1 the size and weight of the ASA has been reduced as much as possible and with its central porting the Angel 1 is just as comfortable for right and left hand shooting. The ASA also functions as an easy bleed on/off.

9v Super Charged Angel Battery

By using advanced software logic and electronic components incorporating voltage stabilizers, the Angel 1 is able to achieve over 300,000 shots from a single 9v battery. The Angel Power 9v battery comes as standard with the marker, which will exceed Duracell 9vs in both power-output and life-span.

4 Point Trigger Adjustment

The trigger can be adjusted in 4 ways to give players maximum control over their trigger dynamic, the most personal aspect of any marker. Players can adjust the front travel and back stop positions as on most other high-end paintball markers. In addition to this, the point within the stroke at which the trigger will activate is also adjustable, as is the strength at which the trigger will return at, by controlling the attraction forces that operate within the trigger mechanism. The Smart Parts Ion XE is a new gun for 2008. It is based off of the original Ion, but Smart Parts made some improvements over the old design. One of the biggest complaints that people had with the original Ions design was that it did not allow the user to clean the bolt without taking the gun completely apart. Smart Parts fixed this problem with their new Bolt-Out-Back design. This allows the user to quickly remove full bolt and valve assemblies with one allen wrench. It is now possible to disassemble, clean, and put the marker back together in 2 minutes instead of 15. Smart Parts also redid the styling of the marker for a better visual appearance.
